Pelvic evaluation

Ultrasound is the imaging modality of choice in the investigation of pelvic organs: uterus, ovaries and prostate. It allows the evaluation of the endometrium, or the myometrium when looking for fibroids. Ovarian lesions can be characterized (simple or complex cyst, solid lesion). The evaluation of the prostatic parenchyma is done by transrectal ultrasound. CT-Scan will have its place in a local and regional evaluation in cases of neoplasm.
MRI is indicated following equivocal ultrasound findings. It allows, among other things, differentiating an exophytic fibroid from ovarian mass, or characterizing an atypical ovarian mass. MRI proves the modality of choice in determining the stage of cervical neoplasm.
